Transformation Tuesday: Q&A With Brett C. '24
Every week, we’re showcasing our graduating students as they prepare to say goodbye to Dean. On each #TransformationTuesday or #FavoriteMemoryFriday, you’ll get a before and after look at where they started vs. where they are now. Next up is Brett Chaves '24, a Sports Broadcasting major and Business minor.
Q: How has your experience at Dean shaped you?
Throughout my four years at Dean, I have become much immensely more confident in my independence. My high school career was shaped by other influences and actions around me. At Dean, I have been able to forge my own path. Professors and other advisors have given me the resources to do so, but it has been ultimately up to me to find that success. If I had gone to another school, I don’t think my independence would have grown as much as it has.
Q: What is your favorite memory from your time at Dean?
My favorite memory from Dean has been meeting all of my friends now. Without my core group of friends, I don’t think I would have enjoyed the college experience as much. They have made it so easy to be myself and to attend outside programs that Dean provides. I owe it all to them.
Q: How has Dean prepared you for the future?
Dean has seriously prepared me for my future as a Sports Broadcaster. As I said, I’ve been given the tools to go out and find that success. Now, I can confidently say that I am in a good position for when I walk across the stage. I already have a full-time job in sports, as well as countless connections that stretch across the country. All of this began with one conversation and opportunity while in school.
