Transformation Tuesday: Q&A With Emily G. ’23
Every week, we’re showcasing our graduating students as they prepare to say goodbye to Dean. On each #TransformationTuesday, you’ll get a before and after look at where they started vs. where they are now. Next up is Emily Goyette ’23, a double major in Theatre and Early Childhood Education!
Q: How has your experience at Dean shaped you?
Emily: “Being here at Dean I’ve been able to concentrate on myself, create time for friends and activities, and look towards the future. Throughout my time here at Dean, I’ve been involved in a lot of different things on and off campus, which have all provided me with valuable experiences, friendships, and connections. However, I made sure to set aside time for myself to get together my goals and stay on track for where I wanted to be by the time I graduated. I have become a more mature and confident young woman with a clear goal of what she wants to do and where she wants to go once my time here at Dean is over.”
Q: What is your favorite memory from your time at Dean?
Emily: “Spending the summers with the Orientation Leaders, kickball, ziplining, getting to know so many new people, becoming a team.”
Q: How has Dean prepared you for the future?
Emily: “The support from the Dean staff, faculty, and community has given me the confidence and resources to find my own path after graduating and the confidence to advocate for myself and reach my goals. I have had countless opportunities to build my resume and have unique experiences like going to New York City to meet current theatre makers, partake in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and complete plenty of student teaching hours on and off campus in order to prepare me for teaching in my own classroom.”
Check back throughout the semester as we profile members of the Class of 2023 and see how far they’ve come throughout their time at Dean!
