¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ End of Semester Update
Message from the President
¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ welcomed our students back to campus in January 2021. The College has been diligent in following state guidelines and creating an environment that prioritizes the health and safety of our entire Community. Over the past seven days, we have noticed a consistent increase in positive COVID-19 cases. While our overall positivity rate has remained low, the College considers the recent increase in the number of positive cases on campus concerning and is acting assertively to minimize the impact on our Community.
As a result of the present situation and out of an abundance of caution, ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ has made the decision to move to a fully virtual delivery of all final exams. In the days ahead, faculty will be contacting students with updated information related to final exams. This will also result in discontinuing most formal campus activities, including athletics, by the end of day Friday, April 30.
Resident students, with the exception of those graduating this spring, will be expected to depart campus by Saturday, May 1 at 5:00 PM EST. Students with extenuating circumstances should contact Residence Life. Residence Life Staff will manage the move-out process. We are limiting each student to two guests on-campus and requiring everyone to follow all safety protocols, including use of a face covering at all times.
The ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ in-person Commencement Exercises for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will take place on Saturday, May 8. We remain confident in our ability to ensure a safe environment for our Community through Commencement and will continue with our testing protocols.
This semester, Dean has built a detailed testing and contact tracing structure that has resulted in an overall COVID-19 negativity rate of 99.79% out of more than 24,000 tests conducted. We thank our students, staff, faculty, and on-campus partners whose actions contributed to our success.
The health and safety of our entire community is paramount, and these actions are being taken only after careful consideration of the options available based on this objective.
Thank you once again for your understanding and all you have done to promote the well-being of the ¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ Community.
