¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ Welcomes New Faculty: Former Voice of the Boston Red Sox, Jerry Trupiano
¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ is pleased to announce that the former Voice of the Boston Red Sox, Jerry Trupiano, has accepted appointment as an adjunct faculty member of Communications for the Dean School of Business (DSB).
Jerry Trupiano is an award-winning sports broadcaster. Best known for his former role as a play-by-play announcer for the Boston Red Sox, Trupiano also called games for the Houston Astros, the Montreal Expos, MLB.TV and the CBS Radio Game of the Week. Along with his baseball work, he has been a play-by-play announcer in the NFL, the NBA, professional hockey and network college basketball and football.
In addition to his play-by-play broadcasting experience, Trupiano has hosted several talk shows, including the weekend show on 98.5 The Sports Hub Radio in Boston.
¶¶ÒõÆƽâ°æ offers a bachelor’s degree in Sports Broadcasting and Trupiano will round out the experienced faculty for the program, which includes Distinguished Executive Faculty and Director of the Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management, John Rooke. Rooke currently serves in several broadcast capacities, including 31 years as the play-by-play voice for Providence College Friars Men’s Basketball. He is also the Stadium Voice of the New England Patriots.
"I'm looking forward to joining the Dean family and sharing my experiences in sports broadcast media with Dean students,” said Trupiano. “I learned from Hall of Fame broadcasters like Jack Buck, Harry Caray, Dan Kelly and Bob Starr. Now it's my turn to share those lessons and decades of experience behind a microphone and in front of a camera to the next generation.”
Trupiano, who will be teaching Sports & Entertainment Media Reporting, plans to draw upon his professional experience for the course. “The entertainment reporting component will allow me to call upon my experiences with my contacts in Hollywood and New York.” Fun facts: Trupiano made the actual game calls that were used in three movies, including Fever Pitch, In the Bedroom and Mystic River; and he was saluted on the sitcom, The Office.
